Fayetteville groups shine at Lumberton festival

Annual festival features popular chili cook-off contest

"Rumba on the Lumber" draws a fun crowd for 2008 event

Two groups from Fayetteville made a splash last Saturday at Lumberton's annual "Rumba on the Lumber" festival for 2008. The Fayetteville group with KISS 107.7FM and FOXY 99FM was selected by our own LumbertonTimes.com as its "All-Around Favorite" in the festival's chili cook-off competition. Their beautiful booth and attire, along with their friendliness, combined with their tasty food to draw plenty of repeat visits from the festival's attendees.

In addition, the group with Special Olympics for Cumberland County was the winner of the "Volunteers' Choice" award for their booth and delicious chili. The group will be among those participating in the statewide Special Olympics event on Saturday, March 8th, in Winston-Salem.
